Abstract
An energy balance is a schematic representation of the different energy conversion channels in a lamp. It can be used to study high-intensity discharge lamps and improve them. Key element is the determination of the spectral radiant flux for the complete spectral range of the source on an absolute scale. In order to obtain these spectra we have built and calibrated an integrating sphere setup that covers a spectral range from 250 nm up to 10 µm. Such a broadband calibrated spectrum of a second generation ceramic HID lamp is shown in this paper. At the symposium, we will present spectra and energy balances for three generations of ceramic HID lamps (extruded, shaped and unsaturated).
